I don’t know the details of the case at all, but indeed like you said it gets murky when you’re arguing the difference between ‘authentic’ (i.e. real Rolex parts) and ‘original’ still real Rolex parts, just not the ones original to the watch. High-end watch collectors like Mayer will look for the latter. My guess is the lawsuit was essentially a difference of opinion on what they each thought they were buying/selling.
For real. I love watches, collect watches, consider myself extremely into watches. My boss collects Rolexes. Specifically Sea Dwellers. He takes being into watches to an entirely different level than. He has every model, with different iterations of each, of every Sea-Dweller out there.
